Google blocks all 59 Chinese apps banned in India from Play Store
Following the orders of the Indian government, tech giant Google has blocked all 59 Chinese apps including popular video-making services TikTok, Vigo Video, Likee and web browser UC Browser from the Play Store in India. This means you cannot install these apps on your Android phones in the country anymore.
Google spokesperson confirmed the blocking of the apps for Indian users to Hindustan Times and noted that the affected developers have been notified about the same.
This move comes just days after the Indian government issued an interim order for the blocking of 59 Chinese apps, claiming that they are "prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order".
The announcement came as a surprise and created confusion among users in India as it was unknown how the government was planning to implement the ban on these services, but now as the apps are no longer available to download on Google Play Store, things are becoming more apparent.

Most of these Chinese apps were household names in India, especially TikTok, which was among the most downloaded non-gaming apps in the country. Shein, UC Browser, Shareit and CamScanner were also hugely successful, garnering millions of users.
